Week 9 Reading

This week you will be looking at 12 days-a Year of Design, a site that spotlights 12 different artists who use multimedia in their work.  This is to help prepare you for Project 3 and to also give you an introduction to the Wacom pen/pad.  Ignore the constant plugs for the expensive Wacom pens, but do read the artist pages carefully for design tips.  Choose one of the artists, and share one thing you learned that you would like to try out in your Adobe Project.  We will be using the pen tool and Wacom tablets next week for an in-class activity.

I really liked how Todd Quackenbush put into his work creativity and complexity. I can't wait to try something like this. This is where design takes place and there is not a better way to do so than by mastering the Grip pen and Photoshop together. It real amazing how he can give things and objects life. Great work.

I like Jesse Holisser creation of the windmill. I like the colors and the realism of the image that he created using other programs for the 3D effect. I would like to learn more about different mixtures of filters to really get a nice effect.

I enjoyed the art work of Jesse Hollis the most. While the other artists were interesting, Jesse's work was remeniscent of "Twighlight Zone: The Movie" and Salvador Dali, some of my favorites.

I enjoyed Tim May's work, just because i thought it looked great when he was all done using it. I also thought it was interesting how he had the video of him making the piece itself, and the way he made it was almost unorthodox in my opinion, which made it way more interesting to watch.

I was drawn to both Tim Oakley and Tim Mays works as they seem closer to the style of work I am most interested in. However, I must say that Jack Davis's work really took my breath away when I saw it! It was really cool the way he was able to manipulate and bring out the details in the photograph..it was stunning!

All the people in this reading do some very interesting stuff but my choice is split between 2, Jack Davis and Tim Oakley. I like the glowing palm tree technique Jack used and then theres the digital airbrushing by Tim and would be very interested in learning more on the techniques they use.

I picked Jesse Hollis. I really like how he makes his pictures come alive. The colors and the 3D stuff he used are really good

I liked Jack Davis photograpfy picture. His use of different colors and makes the palm trees in the photo stand out more. The other types of art I also liked the other works of art in the different areas and the different types of art into their design.

I like Dog Days of Summer by Tim May. The cartoon effect works well in this piece. Each dog has its own characteristics and elements. It is very exaggerated and it well done.
