Week 6 Reading

The good, the bad, and the ugly.  This is a quick read to give you some hints as to what you should avoid when designing your website.  Some you have read before, but there are some nice examples that you may not have seen as well.

this reading was a great read, short and simple, to the point. All the points it made in the "good bad and the ugly" section were spot on and I couldn't agree more with them

Yes short and to the point like a good website should be! I agree with this reading as I like sites like that, simple is better no need for all the fancy junk.

Nice And Simple read. Pointing Out What's Good & What's Bad. Some Of It Was Self-explainatory, But Mentioning It Doesnt Hurt This Piece At All. Showing That Overduing It Isnt Good At All, but simple navigation is a better quality then overexaggeration.

What this reading says is very true. If a website takes to long to uplaod or i dont know how to use it I leave and move on to something else.

I think that short and to the point only work with retail and informative and not special intrest sites.

this weeks reading was interesting because i liked how it showed you examples on what is "good" and what is "ugly." that way it was easy to follow and you could see exactly what not to do.

Once again simplicity is the mother of all good unless the information is not worth reading. Although some websites look cool with colorful graphics, they only want to attract your attention to weak or unimportant stuff. Great reading, thank you.

I like digital whatches. The glass just broke out of my other one. Tell me, do you choose the analog clock on your mobile phone or the easy to read digital display? Sometimes less is more. It is true, but if you were to print a web page that has a black background what would you do? I would highlight the text, change the color, and print the selection. The points that the author has discused are valid, but always hold advice to a grain of salt. Don't let people put a kink in your creative hose.

I enjoyed this reading, not only because it was short and swet but it does point out things that we as designers might attract the eye or make it look hip and cool, but sometimes it is straining on the eye and if you have to many liks or the images dont load quickly people jes say next... not neccesarily say white backround white letters and a few shapes here and there and not meaning going over voard with flashing icons and glittery words and tone on tone colors and itty bitty fonts. less is SOMETIMES more

I totally agree with the author. Everything he illustrated in the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly were right on and there is nothing more irritating than encountering some or all of the things mentioned when trying to navigate a webpage. While it might be enticing to add a lot of pizzazz, simple really is better.

This reading has good points on how to make a good website more interesting. And not to anoy, or give the viewer a headache; while they are viewing the website.

this one has to be my favorite reading because I can relate to what he is saying. I get realy fustrated when I am unable to get to a website because it has too much flag or its down due to construction. Most people don't really care about how pretty you pages look but how easy it is to find what you are looking food. Sometimes a little flash doesn't hurt but some people seem to over do it sometimes. Also with the ability to go to sites on portable devices like cell phones, flash is unavailable so its imposible to get to where you want on mobile devices.

I liked that this website showed examples of what not to do on your personal site. It was very short and easy to read. The information is straightforward and simple. I learned a few new things to look out for after read this.
